adidas Originals Mutombo – Available at UBIQ 8.24.13

First released in 1993, the adidas originals Mutombo returns 20 years later looking as fresh its first debut. With its signature African-inspired pattern, bold colors and sky-high cut, the adidas Originals Mutombo is a shoe that has been on many sneakerheads’ re-release wishlist.

For this year’s lineup, the adidas originals Mutombo uses a different colorway, designed as a tribute to the retired NBA center and his Congolese heritage. The new Mutombo shoes maintains the trademarks of the original including the black and white African mud print, the shield-inspired graphic on the tongue, and the number ’55’ in yellow on the sides of the collar. The upper is crafted out of a combination of leather and synthetic materials, which also features a padded collar, plastic lace details and contrast stitching along the front of the outsole. adidas originals Mutombo will be available at UBIQ Walnut and for $105 at 9AM this Saturday 8.24.13.

Mutombo Game adidas Basketball Shoe
This edition of the adidas Originals Mutombo is a unique combination of retro basketball aesthetics and African mud print motifs. The high-top makes it more eye-catching with a complex upper consisting of black, red, white and yellow overlays that allows Mutombo’s influences to shine expressively. The padded oversize tongue features an African shield graphic that incorporates a ‘M’ and is sandwiched between two 5’s, Mutombo’s jersey number, which also appears on the sides of the collar.

We can all enjoy a refreshing change of direction in terms of incorporating cultural elements into a shoe, this isn’t the first shoe that Mutombo and his Congolese roots have inspired and we hope this won’t be his last… or as Mutombo would say “No no no! Not today!”
