Nike Air Veer “Red October”

“The Hunt for Red October,” a popular 1984 novel by Tom Clancy, tells the fictional story of a submarine captain in the Soviet Navy who defects to the United States. Not only does Captain Ramius escape to the United States, but he steals a revolutionary, submarine vessel that makes sonar detection nearly impossible. The vessel, “Red October,” was a crucial component in the plans to initiate a nuclear attack against the United States because of its ability to avoid detection in US waters (Thankfully he stole it!). That being said, it’s pretty ironic that the Nike Air Veer “Red October” is one of the most noticeable shoes on the planet. I mean its loud! The University Red screams at you. It demands your attention and time to reflect on its bold features. The only other shoes we can think of that required so much attention are the Nike Air Yeezy II “Red October” and the Air Jordan 4 “Toro Bravo,” and we still think these Veers take the cake. UBIQ will have the Nike Air Veer “Red October” this Saturday, in-store, for $120.

Air Jordan 1 Retro ’95 TXT “Bred” and “Concord”

Hybrids are making a push right now and we’re not just talking about the cute, little cars that run on vegetable oil. We’re talking about sneakers. Artificial fusions of two completely different shoes to make the ultimate hybrid. MJ had his chemists working overtime for these beauties and we ain’t complaining. Two Jordan hybrids will be invading UBIQ this weekend in the form of the Air Jordan 1 Retro ’95 TXT “Bred” and “Concord”. MJ borrowed elements of the Jordan 11’s “Bred” and applied them to the original framework of an Air Jordan to create the Retro ’95 TXT “Bred”. The Air Jordan 1 Retro ’95 TXT “Concord” applied a similar design using that colorway we know and love. Both sneaks sport side panels wrapped in heavy mesh coupled with patent leather around the toe box. “JUMPMAN JORDAN” stands out nicely on the tongue tag accompanied by the “23” above.  Carbon fiber accents the wings logo providing a classy finish to this retro hybrid. We’ll have them for you in-store, this Saturday for $130.

Nike Zoom Flight ’98 “The Glove”

One of the greatest trash talkers in NBA history is yet again making his presence known with the Nike Zoom Flight ’98 “The Glove”. Gary Payton took pride in getting in his opponent’s head. He enjoyed twisting their words, getting personal, and telling the greats how much they really sucked. He even talked Jordan into a loss once or twice and swears John Stockton was a tougher match-up. Aside from his verbal assault on the NBA from 1990 to 2007, Gary was one hell of a defender. He was so good that his opponents coined the nickname, “The glove,” as a sign of respect. Nike showed their respect by giving Gary Payton his very own signature sneak and even letting him play a large role in the technology and design.

Nike SB Stefan Janoski ‘Blue Digi Floral’

When it comes to big sports brands in skateboarding, people tend to gravitate towards the remakes of old classics rather than the freshly designed “skate” shoes. With Nike SB in particular, the popularity of their original SB models such as the Bruin pales in comparison to reworked classics such as the Dunk or the Blazer. One exception to the rule is the Janoski. Between skateboarders and collectors, this shoe definitely give those other two a run for their money. The shoe is the result of Stefan Janoski, a skater’s skater, remaining steadfast that Nike give him the shoe he designed as he designed it. His stubbornness paid off, because not only has the Janoski become a skate staple since its release in 2009, shoe collectors and Nike enthusiasts have also shown it a ton of love. We’re excited to see his Nike SB Stefan Janoski ‘Blue Digi Floral’ making its rounds starting September 27th, hot on the heels of his ‘Pink Digi Floral,’ which dropped this past Spring.

Air Jordan V “3Lab5”

It’s a big year for the Jordan V. To honor 23-year old model, Jordan has been giving it a bunch of shine via releases such as the “Fire Red” and “Fear”. They’ve definitely outdone themselves with the “3Lab5” though, taking the classic Elephant print that first debuted in 1988 for the Air Jordan III and bringing it to the V for the first time ever. Part of the The Air Jordan Elements collection, a brand new series of Jordans brings their iconic patterns and design elements to shoes that never featured them in the past. As the most legendary of all Air Jordan design elements, Elephant print made for a obvious starting point for this new creative endeavor. This is sure to be an instant classic, even if it took them a whole bunch of years to get around to it, better late than never.
