VIDEO: Banksy sells his art on the street for $60 a pop – and we all missed it!
This past weekend graffiti artist/prankster/statement maker Banksy pulled another one of his stunts by selling his art on the street for a mere $60 a pop. He brought in an older man to play the street vendor, set up shop with 100% authentic pieces on display – and documented the one day sale on video. Watch it all happen in the clip above as much of the prices get haggled by customers, many of them unfamiliar with Banksy’s work obviously, as one man put it “I just need something for the walls.” Perhaps this is art being appreciated in the purest form, without hype or expectations, but don’t we all feel dumb for missing this one.
Air Jordan 5 ‘Bel Air’
In September 1990, the Fresh Prince of Bel Air sitcom debuted on television. That same year that Jordan Brand dropped the Air Jordan 5, making 2013 the 23rd anniversary of the shoe. Considering how much Jordan Brand feels about the number 23, is it any wonder these coincidences had any influence on the release date of this shoe? A breathtakingly FRESH new colorway the Air Jordan 5 ‘Bel-Air’, as its name implies, takes inspiration from the very colorful Will Smith character of the legendary 90’s TV sitcom. Known to for his flashy clothing, among them the reversed Bel Air Academy blazer, Will usually showed (everyone) up on set in dope kicks – in the show’s opening scene Will famously rocked the Air Jordan 5 with no laces. With it’s neon pop of colors and wild prints, these kicks personify 90’s fashion fit for a – wait for it – Fresh Prince.
Jordan 5 ‘Bel Air’ Arrives October 5th, Cue the Music…
Though not it’s official name, the Jordan 5 ‘Bel Air’ arrives in a brand new colorway complete with bright hues and a wild 90’s print fit for, well, a Fresh Prince. The Air Jordan V was the obvious choice for this release, with Will Smith (whose birthday it happens to be today) famously rocking the popular silhouette in the opening credits of the legendary 90s sitcom. October 5th is the drop date for these hyped up Js. Cue the music…

Jordan 1 “Atlanta Hawks”, A Tribute To A Formidable Foe
The Air Jordan 1 “Atlanta Hawks” keeps the ball rolling with its NBA team-based looks, here sporting a Black/Gym Red-University Gold color-scheme, a nod to the OG uniforms of Atlanta Hawks, a team considered to be one of MJ’s “Formidable Foes”. Closer details of the sneakers reveal the film graphics across the upper that seem to point to Dominique Wilkins, aka the Human Highlight Reel, as the foe called out.
Friday Forecast: Nike Air Foamposite One “Weatherman”
When the Foamposite came out last year it took basketball by storm, forever changing the way sports footwear is designed – and it looks like it will happen again. A new Nike Air Foamposite One “Weatherman” edition emerges this Friday August 31 2013, inspired by NBA player and Nike-sponsored athlete Kevin Durant’s childhood desire to be a weatherman. We’re thankful he found the his way to sports, but even more that Nike has found a way to illustrate this short-lived career dream through one of their most revolutionary sneakers. Graphic, Doppler-esque depictions of inclement weather patterns grace the uppers of each shoe. The blue colorway demonstrates a quick transformation from calm to intense, while the red represents the constant pounding of a soaking thunderstorm. Don’t get left out in the storm, pick up your Nike Air Foamposite One “Weatherman” at UBIQ Walnut this Friday for $250.
